The Slovak public broadcaster STV has obtained a licence for what will be its third channel.

Known as ‘Trojka’, the sports-focused service will make its debut on August 8 and be in air from 17.00-23.00 on weekdays and 11.00-23.00 on Saturdays and Sundays.

Although Trojka will offer coverage of the Beijing Olympics in HD, it will revert back to SD-only transmissions once they have finished.
