Horizontals on 7W Hooray
« on: June 04, 2008, 11:36:41 PM »
Hey guys,

Finally managed to get one of the Horizontal transponders, haven't managed it for a while.

Freq 12226H /27500 Arabian Travel Channel. All the other chanels are the usual rubbish.

Here's a screenshot just to prove it. :P

11919H is supposed to be getable to but I just get broken up picture.

Also getting 11996H  Although all the channels are scrambled Showtime.

I have a Triax TD110 dish, that goes where I tell it coupled to a TM1000D receiver, and a fixed dish that goes where the wind blows it.
Also got a TM6800HD.

Yeah, that's right.

But it is nothing I have done :D, for some reason they were just a liitle bit stronger last night.

Without getting/changing dishes, I just need that little bit extra normally.

Are you going to try it on your Fibo STICK?

I did. On my Skystar. Nada. Zip. Nout.

It's going to be really tough on a 90cm, so everything is going to have to be with me. The Skystar isn't the most sensitive receiver in the world, and my current LNB isn't brilliant either, although neither are bad.

I was going to try it on my new Foxsat, but it just got too late. I eventually made it to bed at quarter to five last night!

Getting an H on the Triax really is pretty good going.

I used to find that about 2 am in the morning was the best for getting 7w on my setup  :D

I only managed to get the verticals on my puny little 90cm dish

This will soon be changing in the next few months when i go for a monster setup now that i can get stuff trade through work  :D

Looking at getting either a 1.2m Televes dish or a Trix TD110 in the next few months to go with my collection of Dreamboxes :D

Not getting the 12225H transponder as well tonight, getting a bit of pixelation. The showtime one is just a total blotchy mess.
Perhaps I'll wait til 2am and try again. :D

I thought the Fibo was the dog's doodars STICK?

I spose its the old addage, it's size what matters.

What's the Televes dish like nano? I'm surprised you are not going to go for a Channel Master, or Whatever it is they are called now.
If I was allowed to get a bigger dish, or change the one I had now without anyone noticing, that is what I would like to get. Even better the 1.8 like crossbones.

The Triax 110, is a crap thing to install though, the swivelly thing on the back really gets on your tits. You get it spot on, but when you tighten it up, it grips the grooves tighter and changes the elevation by a gnats whisker and you lose the signal ( I use 7W as my reference satellite,  tut tut), so I have been using the elevation adjustment on my motor instead to tweak it back ( another tut tut :D)

I have a Triax TD110 dish, that goes where I tell it coupled to a TM1000D receiver, and a fixed dish that goes where the wind blows it.
Also got a TM6800HD.

The company i use don't stock the channel master unfortunately  :(

I had good results with the old 90cm Televes Prime focus dish so if i do pip for it i am expecting fairly good results  :righton:

The Fibo is the best 90cm dish on the planet IMO, but you're dead right regarding size.

It's nearly as good as a CM 1.2m if it's set up right. Mine isn't quite, and as I said above, I could do better with the receiver and LNB. The Inverto C120 twin is very long, and so hits the LNB arm - meaning that you have to set the skew at around 7 degrees when it should be 0.

Although it's very small and casts a tiny shadow on the secondary reflector, I want to fit an Invacom quad. I think that will make a difference. My old Invacom twin was unreal!

I didn't want to p!ss my neighbours off, or my Mrs. come to that, so decided to stick to the TD110 and the Fibo 90.

I'm totally with you on the TD110 install. What a complete sh!tbag! The TD88 is not so bad (uses the same mount type) but the TD110 is much heavier, and a real pain to align.

I was resetting mine up yesterday, as I felt it was a little low as some buildings had grown ( actually I originally got the pole about a foot too short), so I now have two scaffold poles joined together.

Anyway, even at a metre off the ground it is still so blinking heavy, I almost dropped the f00king thing. I should get a new motor too, my little STAB HH90 has so much play on it with that weight. :D

Yes, I think I read about the Invacom quad somewhere else, as being good for fringe areas. Is it not possible to get a decent C120 LNB that is straight rather than elbowed?

The Invacom is straight, apart from the cable connectors, but it's very bulky and casts a larger shadow than most LNBs. Of course, that's only an issue for Gregorian dishes  ::)

It's also a bit of a gamble at nearly £70 too!  :lamped:

The Invacom is straight,
Oh, Yeah so it is. :D

Ere, I wonder if I put one of those little dishy thingies on the end of my dish arm it would work better.

I'm sure I've got a cat bowl around somewhere that might do the job.

11747V is a good one for me. I used to do this OK on my Triax 1.1 in most weathers. Channels include EDUC 1/2/3/4.
